Our Story

biscuit

/ˈbɪskɪt/

  1. a small flat piece of wood used to join two larger pieces of wood together, fitting into slots in each.

  2. a small baked unleavened cake, typically crisp, flat, and sweet. (because everyone loves a biscuit!)

  3. a hockey puck (because I love hockey!)

  4. The term biscuit comes from the French bis-qui, which itself has a Latin root: panis biscotus refers to bread twice-cooked. The Romans also had a form of biscuit, we'd now call a rusk and was essentially bread which was re-baked to make it crisp…The wood products you’ll find from Biscuit are also re-baked to avoid waste and give old wood a new life.

2020…The year when the bins went out more than we did. Most people baked banana bread or binged a Netflix series or two. I decided to take up a new hobby and started turning wood that would otherwise end up at the dump into new accessories for the home, giving old wood a new life. It is such a great product to work with and the challenge to see what I can make with the rescued wood is a very satisfying process. No two pieces are ever the same.
